Dr. Dharan is the Robert B. and Candice J. Haas Visiting Professor and Senior Lecturer at Harvard Law School, and Visiting Professor of Accounting at MIT Sloan School of Management. He is also a Managing Director at Berkeley Research Group, LLC, where he provides business and litigation services consulting.
Dr. Dharan is additionally the J. Howard Creekmore Professor Emeritus at Rice University where he was a tenured professor for over two decades. He has been a professor at Northwestern University, and visiting professor at Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan School of Management, University of California-Berkeley, Boston University, and Indian School of Business. He has also been a lecturer in executive programs for Wharton, Duke University, and INSEAD. He has published widely in major accounting and finance journals, and is a co-author of four books covering financial accounting and finance topics. He has been invited three times by the United States Congress to testify on accounting and disclosure issues. He has presented several dozen research seminars, executive education programs, and talks around the world on accounting, finance, valuation, and corporate governance issues.
Dr. Dharan has extensive consulting experience in financial accounting and disclosures issues, finance, valuation, investment analysis, corporate governance, and forensic analysis and investigations. He has served as a testifying expert in international arbitration proceedings in many of the major international forums, and was named to the International Who's Who of Commercial Arbitration. He has also served as a consulting or testifying expert on several dozen litigation and business consulting engagements. His consulting and testimony experience covers a variety of industries, including energy, utility, technology, manufacturing, and financial services/banking.
Dr. Dharan is a CPA and holds the ABV (Accredited in Business Valuation) and CFF (Certified in Financial Forensics) credentials. He received MS and Ph.D. degrees in management from Carnegie Mellon University, MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and B.Tech in chemical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
